Scout Active Support Unit

What is the SASU?

The District’s Scout Active Support Unit (SASU) is open to anyone over the age of 18 who wants to help Scouting without the commitment of becoming a Leader. There is no requirement to have been involved in Scouting before joining the Unit. All that is required is a willingness to volunteer some time to support Scouting.

SASU members do not need to hold a Appointment. All they will be asked is to obtain DBS clearance and undertake a small amount of basic training, which the Unit will arrange, and if they do not wish to make the Scout Promise they will become Associate members of the Scout Association. Volunteering is very flexible and the amount of time members give to SASU activities is up to them.

The Unit, apart from assisting various Scouting activities such as helping with sectional activities and badge days, providing catering for District and County events, and helping with the District Camp which is held every three years; arranges various social events which include walks round London and various days out.

If you would like to join the District’s Unit please contact the Unit Co-ordinator, Susan Jenkins, who will be pleased to hear from you. There is no membership fee and if, you are in Scout uniform, there is a free badge.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
